The most important concerning the crisis in every international summit is the environmental crisis in this era.
A plastic water bottle is one of the reasons for this crisis.
According to the Container Recycling Institute, approximately 50 billion water bottles have been consumed every year and this number continues to increase. Furthermore, there are billions of tons of plastic waste in the oceans, killing sea creatures.
In 2019, Textile Exchange, the global non-profit organization https://textileexchange.org/ , has started challenging over 50 big textile companies to grow their consumption of recycled polyester textiles. The goal of this project is 45%, approximately 17.1 million metric tons, of all polyester waste will be recycled by 2025 and reach 90% of polyester recycled volume by 2030.
Due to this challenge, Jong Stit Co., Ltd also has a major mission to lead the sustainable textile business. Therefore, the company has developed an innovation of recycled polyester fabric from plastic water bottles (PET) to respond to the world’s trend and share the same goal of our customers, who are the giant textile companies worldwide.
What is the recycled polyester fabric?
All type Jong Stit’s recycled polyester fabrics are knitted from recycled polyester yarns, produced by Thai Polyester Co., Ltd., a polyester yarn supplier under the umbrella of Jong Stit Group. Therefore, we assure you that the recycled polyester fabric of Jong Stit is 100% polyester recycled fabric. Moreover, Jong Stit’s recycled fabrics are certified by the global recycling Standard (GRS).
The Standard of Recycled PET Fabric
The Global Recycling Standard (GRS) is an international voluntary product standard for monitoring and substantiating the content of recycled materials in a final product. Control Union Certifications were originally established in 2008 and ownership was transferred to the Textile Exchange on the 1st of January 2011
The standard applies to the entire supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental essentials, social requirements, chemical content, and labeling. With GRS certification, Jong Stit ensures that the company customers commit to the truth of raw materials and support a circular economy that reduces waste by making new fabric.
What is the difference between a polyester fabric and recycled polyester fabric?
However, recycling single-use plastics significantly decreases greenhouse gas emissions compared to producing virgin polyester because its production requires 59 percent less energy and water usage during the production process when compared to virgin polyester fabric.
The recycled polyester fabric for the future
The demand for recycling polyester has been increased in the recent period. According to the growing numbers of garments and other companies who request a recycled polyester fabric for their final product to reach the challenge of recycled polyester.
